SUMMER PLAYGROUND SCHEDULE
The Port Jervis Recreation Commission will open two (2)
Supervised Playgrounds this summer, Church St. Park and
Riverside Park. Supervised Playgrounds will open on
Mon. June 28 and will close on Fri. August 13.
Supervised Playground Hours
Monday-Friday
8:30 am- 5:00 pm
Children can participate in many activities during supervised
playground hours. Activities include street hockey, basketball,
softball, kickball, tennis, wiffleball and many more. Board
games and card games are also available. All activities are
FREE of charge unless otherwise indicated!
Other parks available to the community include Barclay St. Park,
Cahoonzie St. Park, Elks-Brox Park (Point Peter), Farnum Park
and West End Park. These parks do not have supervised
playground hours but offer playground equipment, basketball
courts and scenic views of the Tri-State Area!

YOUTH CENTER SCHEDULE
The Youth Center’s summer schedule will begin on Monday June 28
and end on Friday August 13.

Children
can play video games on our Wii, PS2 and XBOX systems or play
ping pong, air hockey, foosball or play pool. Board games and
card games are available. Kids can also watch movies on our BIG
screen TV or bowl in our Basement Bowling Alley.

Wednesdays beginning July 7 “Arts and Crafts”

Bowling Day participants MUST wear sneakers when bowling.

Children ages 7-18 may sign up at any of the two
playgrounds or at the Recreation office. CHILDREN UNDER 7 YEARS
OF AGE MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY A PARENT OR A BABYSITTER (16 years
of age or older) DURING PLAYGROUND AND YOUTH CENTER HOURS!!
Permission forms will be distributed to children and need to be
returned to Recreation staff.

WEST
END BEACH
The Port Jervis Recreation Commission will open West End Beach
on Saturday June 19 and close on Friday August 27, 2010.
Located on the beautiful Delaware River, West End Beach
admission is FREE of charge and is open daily from 11:00 am-7:00
pm. Certified lifeguards are on duty during beach hours.
West End Beach Guidelines
1.
No Alcoholic beverages permitted
2.
No Glass bottles permitted
3.
Swimming is NOT permitted outside designated swimming area, when
there is thunder or lightning or when lifeguards are off duty
4.
Appropriate language and behavior is expected of all swimmers
5.
Diving is NOT permitted
6.
Swimmers under the age of 12 MUST be accompanied by an adult 18
years of age or older
7.
Beach schedule is subject to change!

CTIVITIES AND SPORTS PROGRAMS
Street
Hockey
Games are played at Church St. Park every
Monday-Wednesday-Friday mornings from 9:30 am-11:30 am. FREE of
charge and open to boys and girls ages 7 and up. Street Hockey
starts on June 30 and ends on August 11.

3 on 3 Basketball League
Games are played at Riverside Park every Tuesday-Thursday
afternoon from 1:30 pm-3:30 pm. FREE of charge and open to boys
and girls. Form your own team and register with Recreation
staff at Riverside Park June 28-July 2. Games will start on
July 6 and end on August 10. Age groups are 7-9, 10-13, 14-17.

Co-ed Softball
Games are played at Riverside Park every Friday afternoon at
1:30 pm. FREE of charge and open to boys and
girls ages 9-13. Co-ed softball starts on July 2 and end on
August 6.

Co-ed Tennis
Co-ed Tennis Lessons are given at Church St. Park. Lessons are
FREE of charge and for boys and girls ages 7 and up. Lessons
start on July 6 and end on August 12. Registration will take
place at Church St. Tennis courts June 28-July 2 from 9:00
am-12:00 pm or by calling Recreation office at 858-4045.

Co-ed
Youth Track
Track events include, 100 meter dash, high jump, shot put,
hurdles and more. Track is held every Tuesday and Thursday
evening at the Port Jervis High School from 6:00pm-8:00 pm.
Track begins on July 6 and ends on August 12. FREE of charge
and open to boys and girls ages 5 and up.

Co-ed Youth Basketball Lessons and 4 on 4 League
Lessons are held at the Church St. basketball court on Monday
and Wednesday evenings from 6-7 pm. FREE of charge and open to
boys and girls in grades 6-8. 4 on 4 league follows at 7:00 pm
and is also FREE of charge. The 4 on 4 league is open to Middle
School and High School students.

SPECIAL EVENTS
Soccer Star Camp
Train
with former Division 1 College Soccer players. Three 1-week
camps will be held at the Port Jervis High School for boys and
girls ages 10-18. Camp weeks are June 28, July 6 and July 12.
COST $40. Camp times are 9:00 am-11:00 am 11:30 am-1:00 pm.
Lunch (bring own lunch and drink) is 11:00 am -11:30 am. All
participants will receive quality instruction focusing on
individual skills, tactics and team play. Agility, speed and
power training will be covered. All participants receive a camp
t-shirt! Registration will be held at the Youth Center June
7-8-9 from 5:00-8:00 pm.

Tennis
Tournament (Youth and Adult)
The Port Jervis Open will take place the week of August 9,
2010. COST $10. Male and Female age divisions. Trophies to
winners! Registration will take place at the Youth Center
beginning Tuesday July 6, 2010. For more information contact

instructors.

National Night Out
Tuesday, August 3,
2010 @ Riverside Park and Recreation Area. NNO is an annual
event that builds communities, generates support for anti-crime
programs and strengthens police/community relations. Come join

National Baseball Hall of Fame- Cooperstown NY
Date of trip is Tuesday, July 27, 2010. Bus
departs from public parking lot on Pike Street (next to Royal
Furniture) at 7:30 am!! Bus will return approximately 7:30 pm.
Ticket prices (which includes transportation) are as follows:
Adults (ages 19-64) $20, Seniors (age 65 & older $15, Youth
(ages 13-18) $15 and Juniors (ages 7-12) $10. Supervision

The Hall of Fame Gallery serves as the centerpiece of the
historic National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum and the ideal

to have played baseball in the major leagues have earned a spot
in the Hall of Fame. With over 35,000 three-dimensional
artifacts in the Hall of Fame's collection, each visitor can get
a glimpse of what makes baseball special to them. The Museum
which details the history of America's pastime, is split into
three floors to highlight baseball's rich history. It is
recommended visitors start on the second floor.
